Posture Workshop

Have you ever thought critically about your own posture? I know when I was a kid my grandparents were always on me, "stand up tall, pull your shoulders back...," and so on. Being in the line of work that we are, we are constantly analyzing people's posture. As soon as our clients walk in the studio we're taking notes. It's become such a habit for us, that we do it when we go out to dinner, go for a walk, just about everywhere we go. Posture tells us so much about what is going with the body; strengths, weaknesses, imbalances, habits, injuries, etc. It can give us great insight into chronic issues like low back pain, shoulder and neck pain, disc issues, and so on.

Our posture workshops are designed to teach you how to analyze your own posture and get an idea of how to improve and strengthen your body to get yourself into a more optimal state. We go over some of the typical issues that we see and what the likely causes of those things might be. For a lot of people these things can be job related, e.g. typical problems we see with office jobs and being seated most of the day. For athletes we can help identify how your imbalances in posture may be affecting your running, causing chronic issues in your kinetic chain (back, hips, knees, ankles...), or what types of things you can do to make yourself more powerful and efficient.

This workshop is usually 2-3 hours long depending on how many people we have and how much detail we get into. Each person gets a sheet with a diagram of the body on it. We have everyone partner up and then we go through the process of checking alignment and symmetry. We do a lot of question and answer during the analysis, and try to make sure everyone gets the details they need. We'll help everyone find a more optimal posture and try to clue you in on what that should feel and look like.

Everyone will walk away from this workshop with a deeper understanding of their posture, and the important role it plays in our lives. We want people to understand that it is something worth investing in that will generally improve your movement, health and overall quality of life. It does require active engagement and work to improve and maintain good strong posture, and the things that you do should produce results that you see and feel in your daily life. We here at Studio 1 are happy to show you how to accomplish that with our 30+ years of combined experience and excellent results!
